Project Engineer/Manager

Job Role Summary

The Project Manager safely leads project teams through the planning, design, procurement, execution, startup, and commissioning of capital projects on behalf of refinery business teams with the objectives of improving safety, security, health, environmental performance, reliability, and profitability.

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Leads execution planning of projects in the development phase.

    • Engages with the project and refinery business teams to develop competitive project execution plans, cost, and schedule for execution stewardship.  Presents proposed plans to Department and Refinery Leadership for approval and funding.

  • Leads projects through the execution phase.

    • Manages contractors to produce quality deliverables that adhere to company and industry standards per project plan and approved cost and schedule.

    • Manages procurement of material and equipment through site purchasing agreements and alliance contracts.

    • Coordinates inspection of fabrication work.

    • Leads the execution team to safely manage field construction, coordinating interface between operations, construction, and engineering.

    • Continuously monitors project quality, cost, and schedule, and supports stewardship and reporting activities through project lifecycle.

    • Captures and communicates lessons learned to support continuous improvement efforts.

  • Leads projects through start-up and commissioning.

    • Works with operations and contractors to safely bring new facilities into service and complete construction.

    • Coordinates management of change procedures, ensuring the proper approvals are received and all project documentation is retained in refinery systems.

    • Financially closes out projects.

Job Role Requirements

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and motivate people

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to manage competing or conflicting stakeholder requirements and gain alignment

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Strong safety leadership performance in capital project development and management or related roles in a manufacturing environment

  • Extensive experience in refinery / petrochemical operations

  • Experience in all aspects of a project lifecycle, from development through start-up

  • Field engineering and construction experience

  • Working knowledge of industry codes and programs in engineered solutions

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Projects or Primavera, and SAP programs

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
