Instrument Technician (Joliet Refinery)

Pre-employment Testing Requirement

This Operations and Mechanical (O&M) position requires pre-employment testing.  After applying applicants will receive the Phase I Online Assessment via email. Job Role Summary

  • Instrument Technicians troubleshoot, repair, remove, and install electronic controllers, transmitters, control valves, regulators, and various other electronic/pneumatic devices

  • The job involves working at heights and working outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Work schedule is days with occasional shift work including weekends, holidays, and overtime

  • Jobs are located at the Joliet Refinery, Joliet, IL

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Safely perform duties with strict adherence to procedures, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and company policy

  • Take ownership of personal safety and safety of co-workers and community

  • Troubleshoot electrical equipment, use test equipment, and understand electrical safety

  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain process control loops and instrumentation including but not limited to:

    • Pressure transmitters and switches

    • Displacer level transmitters

    • Guided wave radar level transmitters

    • Temperature transmitters and switches

    • Flow measurement devices

    • Troubleshoot and repair interlock control systems

  • Work with PLC systems

  • Read electrical drawings, industry relevant blueprints including P&ID's, and loop drawings

  • Stay abreast of instrumentation/control responsibilities as industry trends and technology change

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Possess valid drivers' license

  • Currently possess or be able to qualify for a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

  • Able and willing to work shift work, weekends, holidays, and overtime

  • Able and willing to work outside in all weather conditions

  • Able and willing to work at heights above 25 feet

  • Able and willing to work in confined spaces

  • Able and willing to work both independently in remote locations and in a team environment

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abiliites (KSA's)

  • 2-year Associates degree in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation or equivalent military trianing in electronics and instrumentation, or equivalent work experience

  • Desire and ability to be a leader in personal safety

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
